Bao Now - Te Anau

Had the tofu sushi dish quite nice much veg, but Bao-beat has milk powder in it.

I went there, talked to the staff and they say the bao bun is not vegan. So something is wrong here. Either the staff or the entry. Their chips were good.

Looking for something to eat in Te Anau, we found this Truck. It serves amazing Baos. The extremely friendly staff will prepare their Vegan options for you It is not the maybe only option on this remote place but it is a great one. I wish i had found it on my first day You will not be dissapointed Revised: To clarify: They told us that the Baos are not vegan but they prepare one with lettuce instead and it was amazing

Friendly staff who know what vegan is but unfortunately there is very little there that is truly vegan. The Vegan bao can be made vegan but that means no bread roll all their bread is non vegan) and having it in a lettuce cup with no sauces. All the sauces are non vegan due to the honey though the guy told us that 90% of vegans who go there eat honey and have their bao with sauce. We ended up only having the chilli sauce as it had no honey. The tofu in the bao had great flavour but really, you're paying a lot $14 with chips) for some pieces of tofu and some chips once everything non vegan is stripped from it. And it really is not at all filling. Sigh.

Great food. we had the Tofu-Bu and Tofu-Sushi bowl. I think the bowl was vegan, but not asked about the bao, I don't think the hate is vegan. both were very good and great vibes come from the chefs.
