We had not been to jinky's in a while and we stopped in for breakfast on a Friday morning. The reason for this really poor review is simply this. The prices are outlandish. Tony, the manager was really nice. Our server Jasmine did a great job. The food was very good. However, when we first came in and sat down and ordered coffee and then looked at the menu we got sticker shock. These are the highest prices I've ever seen for breakfast in Ventura county. To add insult to injury, there was a notification on the top right of the menu that said 3.95% surcharge added to cover rising minimum wage costs. I blame this completely on the owner who I googled and found was a person named Marshall Rothman. Apparently this has been going on for a while and their business seems to be pretty bad based on the very few tables that were occupied when we were here. I think this place used to do a good business before their avaricious turn. I hope that Mr. Rothman decides that having more business is a better business strategy than screwing his employees by hurting their tips. It's the law of the land to give them a better minimum wage. It's a rule of greed that he decided to take 4% for himself from his customers.
Time to update the review for this establishment. There's a 5% discount if you pay cash because you know, we're buying drugs. Also where does that surcharge on each check go towards, I hope the employees? This place is very overpriced even by today's standards and the food has gone downhill significantly. I don't think I'll be back anytime soon, unless I'm carrying a suitcase full of cash looking to make a hand off then quickly drive away in an unmarked van.
We love Jinkys. It's never as busy or as loud as all the other breakfast places locally. Their nitro omelette with chorizo is my favorite and Mike loves their fluffy blueberry pancakes. Parking is easy and ample. My only complaint is their coffee. If they upgraded their brew this place would be perfect.
Came to Jinky's on a Saturday morning and was greeted with awesome service by our server whose name I forgot but who was friendly and helpful. He gave us a great rundown of the menu, and provided solid recommendations for both breakfast and lunch items. We tried the chicken and waffles, avocado toast, chilaquiles, and stuffed French toast. Everyone liked their food, and the portions are quite large so they're also great for sharing if desired. I didn't love the ice blended mocha beverage but I'd recommend everything else
