Schankwirtschaft - Tönning

After having spent the day at the beach in Sankt Peter Ording, we looked up this place which is off the beaten track, yet a very pretty spot. The house is traditional, rustic and with a cozy atmosphere. The food is very simple, and the restaurant certainly could greatly improve if the cuisine would be better. Mostly fried potato dishes....

A real hidden gem, hidden below the Eider dyke, in a lovely rural setting. We parked by the nature reserve centre and walked, only 15 minutes, to this lovely cafe/pub. We just had drinks, but the food other people had ordered looked really good. Like stepping back in time inside, with traditional furniture and decoration and old photos on the walls.

This is a very unique "pub" - very old inside, and a secret tip. Have Eierpunsch (Eggnogg) and Krabbenbrot (shrimps on dark rye bread with fried egg on top) - its just delicious and everything (even the food and drinks and how to eat and drink them) has a history and a story.

Excellent little restaurant well hidden behind the Eider dike. The building is more than 200 years old with some very interesting old style tiles on the walls and original furniture. The service is very friendly and the atmosphere (especially outside in the garden) is very enjoyable. The food is excellent.

Here's another business, this time lunch. I ordered veggie roasted potatoes with sunny next to each other eggs. The cook came out and offered some other veggie options not on the menu. It was good. Great men!
