It features a few screens for watching football or other sports, as well as quiz and fruit machines. While it may not be the ideal spot for a wild party night, it hosts a great quiz every Sunday evening with a 50p entry fee and some generous prizes. The place tends to get quite crowded, with the first prize often reaching around £40. Drink prices are reasonable and on par with other pubs in the area. The Chequers also offers karaoke every week, which can be heard from outside as it attracts a lively crowd.
The beer was good, the staff was great, and the food was delicious. I had the roast and it was very satisfying.
The breakfast at this restaurant was excellent and the price was very reasonable. The dishes were beautifully cooked and full of flavor. The turkey was delicious and moist, unlike other places where it can be dry. The gammon was also full of taste. I will definitely be returning to try more items on the menu. 10/10 recommend.
What amazing 2 night stay ,food was lovely and the staff were amazing, landlord deserves a ,beautiful town castle next door, all the local s,were friendly, differently go back again
Complete transformation from the old pub I knew, and much for the better. The lounge bar area is very popular, but there's quieter seated area to the left. Two beers on when we visited St Austells Tribute and Harvey's, but they seem to have a good gin menu. One one bar staff on when we went on a Friday early evening, perhaps needed more. The decor is nice, tasteful and sparkling loos (always a good sign). I've walked passed this many a time, and will probably call in more often.
