My partner and I both ordered the Boathouse salad, which came with homemade beetroot hummus and was absolutely delicious. My husband also tried the banana topped with chocolate sauce, which he enjoyed very much. It's definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in the small town of Topsham, which has limited choices for vegans.
I had a buckwheat galette with beetroot hummus, tomatoes, fresh spinach, and vegan cheese. It was delicious, and I savored every bite. They also offered crepes that could be made vegan and a vegan salad. The coffee was excellent, and there was a variety of plant-based milks and vegan cakes available. The Boathouse Cafe is small, but like much of Topsham, it is housed in a historic building. There are train and bus connections to Topsham from Exeter in Devon, making it worth a visit.
The savory crepes are delightful, and most of the sweet crepes have vegan options available. The chocolate spread crepe is particularly impressive. The staff is friendly, and the place is dog-friendly with a lovely interior. However, the tables can be oddly sticky.
While The Boathouse isn't a fully vegan café, the owners were very accommodating and had several options available. My husband and I both ordered the Boathouse Salad with homemade beetroot hummus, which was delicious. My husband also enjoyed the banana with chocolate sauce, which he found fantastic. Have only ever had hot drinks here, but it's a cosy bolt-hole and usually has at least one vegan cake. Also has vegan crepe and galette options but I've not tried them.
