Sake Bar Kushi - Toronto

I booked our reservation on October 20th. As usual, we wanted the authentic Horigotsu experience (shut on pillows, shoeless, humiliated tables) offered on the back of the restaurant. As usual we expressly stated on reservation, we wanted thay food experience. The event was my birthday November...16. I came 10 minutes late to see that my 4 friends filled into a booth in front of the restaurant. Not the seats I reserved on October 20th. I approached the owner who claimed they had recently changed the policy of access to the restorer. He claimed they had asked for a deposit now. I advised him that my reservation was made almost a month ago and that I was not sent a message from him that advised me the change. He basically cleaned me away. I went back to our cramped stand and was not satisfied. I asked the so-called manager when politics changed. She advised me about a week ago. I repeated my reservation about a month ago. Why didn't I send a message? She then got the owner who, after hearing when my reservation was made, claimed that the policy had been made 2 months ago. Unfortunately, the war is a bold face. When my partner and I had eaten Horigatsu style on weekends before I made this reservation and no deposit was required. Then we were told that a person would have to pay the whole bill for 6 of us because we all took part in Happy Hour. Wtf. why should a person be responsible for the entire account? Thanks for nothing! Will NIE go back to this place! Not honest. Very unprofessional!

There are a lot of sushi restaurants out there, but many of them are just average. However, this particular sushi restaurant really stands out. They have a wide selection and variety of dishes, including sushi rolls. My go-to sushi choice is uni, and it was excellent here. The sashimi was flavorful and fresh, but the slices were a bit too thick. The portion sizes were generous. The service was friendly and the ambiance was beautiful. The unagi was huge, but a little chewy and had an unusual cut.

Amazing place, great food, great love, and the service is great. The only problem is that their portions are small, we had to order so much food.

I am extremely surprised by the high rating of this sake bar. I just visited the bar and felt compelled to leave a comment. The service was fine and very friendly, but the quality of the dishes we ordered was ridiculously horrible. I ordered what they called Toro "tuna belly" for $27, but it was full of thick, heavy tendon and the texture of the meat was worse than a regular tuna piece. It seemed like it was not actually tuna belly or they were selling low-quality "toro" at a high price. The skewers were also disappointing as they were served cold with an overwhelming amount of sauce coating the meat. I can only give credit to the servers, but overall, if you are looking for a decent sake bar with good quality food, this is not the place to go.
