Írjon visszajelzéstI went as a guest and didn't feel I could complain at the time.Pleasant Victorian decor. Friendly service. Lunch.I ordered tomato bisque and chicken tenders. The bisque came as a choice between soup, salad or fries. Very small bowl of very lukewarm, but pleasant tasting soup. The chicken tenders were coated with rock hard batter and very little chicken. Ratio of batter to chicken = 3:1 . Also a miserly amount of sauce to dip the tenders in.
Am visiting from out of town, came with some friends to their local. Totally amazed at the decor and the food was delicious. Friendly staff. I wish this was near to where we live!
Not having too many nice dining options in south Scarborough, we were eager to try this new pub. The first time the food was okay, I thought perhaps they were just starting out and simply needed to iron out some of the new restuarant hiccups than can happen. However, after giving them another chance, we definitely will not be going back. To say I love nachos is an understatement, so I was looking forward to trying them at the Victorian Monkey. They were gross! Soggy and wet. Salsa tasted weird. My husband had the Salisbury steak which was small and tasted meh. Our ice cream was half melted when it arrived but also had chunks of freezer ice in it. Ugh.
We went for lunch on a Thursday so it wasn't very crowded but the atmosphere was great. The food was fresh, delicious, and reasonable priced and the staff were friendly and helpful. Good selection of beer. We will definitely be going back soon. Kids eat free on Sunday's after 5pm so we will likely take our son on the next visit.
I reluctantly strayed from my regular local place to give this place a try. The atmosphere is great. I love the decor and the warmth of the place. Super cool that they have board games on the tables (our table had trivial pursuit and we played that for a bit) Was going to try the steak. At $18.95 for an 8oz I thought it was a good price. Then I saw it was $10 burgers so decided to try that instead as I normally wouldn't get the burger but why not seeing as it's such a great deal. Well buyer beware. we both ordered burgers. Mine was the backyard BBQ or something and my husbands was the blue cheese. On the menu it listed all the toppings for those particular burgers that it comes with. Mine: bacon, cheddar, and aioli. Husband's: bacon and blue cheese. Great. The burgers were good. Not great but good especially for $10. Imagine our surprise when the bill comes and yeah sure the burgers were $10 but then they charged $1.75 for bacon; $1.75 for cheddar; $0.50 for aioli and $2.25 for blue cheese. So each burger ended up being $14.95 for including nothing more than the toppings under each menu item. To me, that's a really quick and easy way to lose literally thousands and thousands of dollars in business (considering how often we go out) just for $10 in topping charges and deception. But hey, I'm no business owner, what do I know? We brought this up to our waitress Lilli who was very nice and explained that she had brought this issue up to management. She offered us a voucher for next time for the trouble. It was nice that she didn't just brush it off and tried to take care of it. I'll come back one more time to use our voucher and you can thank your server for that. I really hope that next review can be a 5 star because I was really disappointed and I really didn't want to be as this is a nice place and so close to home.
