I came to review this restaurant on yelp specifically to commend our server, Wilberto, on making a lasting impression. Wilbur was polite, welcoming, and attentive. When he saw my partner and I struggling to take a picture of ourselves with the beach in the background, he swooped in and got the shot for us without missing a beat. When he saw that we were taking funny pictures of one another afterwards, he offered us a mask to use for the shots! We even got to take it home! Our food was prompt and Wilberto made sure to check in at every stage of the meal, without being overbearing. Cannot thank Wilberto enough for helping to make our last night in Cancun so memorable!
Great food! We stayed at The Westin Resort and Spa and had dinner mahi magi and shrimp with mashed potatoes. Unfortunately, we got our drinks after dinner was served. I mean no water no drinks for 30 some minutes and then dinner showed up we couldn't get anyone's attention. The restaurant is small and tight but outdoor seating so close to the ocean is pretty cool.
Service is incredibly slow and servers are inattentive. Server didn't check on our table once and spent most of his time at the computer. We chose the Valentine's Day special and the food was mediocre at best. The salad only tasted like burnt corn, entree filet was not season but tasted alright and was cooked as ordered. The dessert chocolate mousse was the consistency of a very thick jello. They also did not bring knives in order to cut the steaks. We could not get anyone's attention so I had to get up and go find someone to ask for a knife. In all honesty, the room service we ordered the night before was better tasting and delivered quicker.
I'm skeptical of hotel restaurants but we were really impressed. We got a 10% off coupon while at happy hour in the club so we decided to try it. The shrimp and crab empanada was insane. It is a must have. The cochinita pibil was good but not great. The mixed grill served in a mortar and pestle was incredibly good. These three dishes were more than enough food. Including 3 bottles of sparkling water, tax, tip, and coupon it was about $50 US. For a hotel in a touristy area I thought this was super reasonable, especially considering how much food we had and how good it all was.
My friend and I stayed at the Westin Resort Spa, and we ate dinner here our first night in Cancun. My friend had the shrimp fajitas and I had the meat molcajete, and both dishes were wonderful. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, as were the meats in the molcajete. We were both satisfied with our first meal in Mexico!
