We also ordered the salted caramel donut for dessert which was delicious. The prices of the meals are well priced for the quality and the staff are great. The only negative is that there was not quite enough options to choose from on the mains menu. Will definitely be going back ☺
My recent visit to Neilsons Kitchen was a delightful experience. We were greeted by a friendly and welcoming face. Service by staff was excellent, our meals were deliciously tasty and of a good size. The atmosphere was warm and cosy. I look forward to returning soon.
We just love Neilsons - only wish it was closer so we could eat here every week. Went with a group of 5 recently for a mid week dinner. We all ordered something different and we all loved our meals! Something that rarely happens. Great wine selection too and service!
I recently went to this establishment with a group of friends on a weeknight. It was cold outside so the open fire(in the middle of the room) was cosy and aesthetically pleasing. Until it went out.The menu was a bit decieving. It looked like there was a lot to pick from, but if you have a nut or fish allergy you will struggle. I got the potato skins (5/5) and the grilled corn cob for starters (3/5). The corn tasted delicious but was extremely hard to eat as it had been cut into 5ths lengthwise. Very difficult to cut off the kernels or hold to bite.Main I got the pork belly and crab salad minus the crab (allergy). The crab wasn't substituted with any other protein and the 2 pieces of pork on my plate were not much bigger than a 50c piece. I was annoyed to still be charged full price! My side of chips were overcooked and very salted, they weren't tasty. For dessert I got the salted caramel donut. A fried slider bun covered in cinnamon- very clever. Tasted pretty good.Local cider was delicious! I'd go back again, but wouldn't get the pork or corn.
Firstly Neilsons is what i would describe as a more of a fine dining restaurant so if you are expecting a Parma and Chips or a Pub style meal you have come to the wrong place. It has a rustic decor and a lovely decked outdoor area and an atmosphere which is good for going out with a family group or a group of friends, The Staff were absolutely lovely and were friendly polite and professional, the premises was very clean too which is always a plus. We ordered a heap of entrees to share which included Prawn Popcorn, Spicy Fried Chicken, Oysters Kilpatrick, and Garlic and Chilli Oysters all of which were amazing and complemented our moderately priced drinks. If we had of stuck with those choices and dessert this would be a 5 star review but when our main meals came out my Lamb Ribs were dry tough and overcooked, they weren't horrible by any means but they detracted from what was up until that point was one of the best dinner outings i have ever had allthough everyone else seemed to enjoy their mains. Dessert made up for the disappointing Ribs as the brownie with peanut butter ice cream was incredible. One thing i really liked about this place is that you are not packed in like sardines as the tables have plenty of space between them so you dont feel cramped or Clastrophobic. All in all a great experience but when i go there again i will definitely just go there for beers and entrée plates to share.
