Fascinating to see the progress as well as individual crafts and skills! despite the twenty-seven trainers who bring children, the website relatiw was quiet and did not feel crowded. good “intermediate” food at reasonable cost and well organized and cheerful service, and many seating also. we. sighed time ages only to observe. many really interesting details and procedures, as well as geese and a peacock, and dray horses. we loved it!
Well made recreation of various crafts and buildings. try to avoid going when it is very hot. Of course they get more from the visit when they speak French, but there is an English version of the card and description. I would not recommend the...small caffe on the website for a meal, but useful if they want to run a break from around.
We visited here years ago. the progress was remarkable. this is a medieval castle, which is dressed in a reasonable dress and built with medieval methods. they can approach them when they work and ask, most of them speak several languages. they must not train the hordes of schoolchildren in how it makes fun to observe them as they learn to make bele, decorate flow and so on. it is very dusty underfoot in summer, so they wear corresponding shoes. the restoration has no end with much space improved. shady forest with picnic spots and interesting workshops, painters, stainers, flow makers, screamers, stonemasons etc. a rewarding project that is worth a revisiting after several years to see the progress.
An amazing, possibly unique attraction in the heart of Burgundy. Castle Guedelon is a year project (aimed to complete in to build a Century castle using only the techniques and rolls that might have been available years ago. As such it...is an exercise I experimental archeology' and is quite fascinating. Not just the building but all the artisan crafts blacksmiths, carpenter's, stonemasons etc.the needed to complete such a massive project as authentically as is possible. Visitors are welcomed and there are guided tours in French and English. You can wander around freely and the workers are very happy to explain what is going on. An unique experience.
