Some friends took us here for lunch. Service, food, wines, ambience all great. Definitely recommend this restaurant. Will go back for sure.
The name says it all. You are sitting close to the paperbarks trees where the bark peels off like paper from the trunks. You might see some wildlife while tasting your meal. Fantastic service, beautiful food and pleasant atmosphere, with local seafood and produce.. We loved the breads, the Entres and the Mains. The menus is not extensive just great. There was not one of them that was 'average'. A good selection of wines.
Nice breakfast. Lunch and Dinner were a bit expensive but overall good. Lovely location and staff was really kind.
During our stay at the 4 * Kewarra Beach Resort we had dinner and lunch here a couple of times (the only alternative on site is the Beach Shack, which is mainly known for its wood-fired pizza). Everything we ate at the paperbark was excellent. The restaurant would be appropriate for a 5 * hotel. Partly, certainly not entirely, the kitchen is moving towards the level of a Michelin star. We were particularly impressed by dishes such as lime cured tuna with avocado and cucumber, Angus beef with potato gratin, barramundi with green asparagus, veal ragout with papardelle and coconut panna cotta with mojito sorbet (mjam!). Everything is excellent, in terms of taste, craftsmanship and appearance. The Australian “meat platter” including kangaroo, crocodile and emu was good, but it didn't match the other dishes. The same applied to the justifiable but somewhat uninspired garlic bread. The choice of drinks is a lot of fun: from the craft beers (e.g. Yenda) to the wines by the glass like the mighty Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot (2013) by Smith
