Piazza del Sol Trattoria & Pizzeria

Went for breakfast at 7:30 am on Thursday and they were just standing around not doing anythingThen "josh" the acting manager took our order.

This place is across from the college, and I'm sure gets a lot of student business, but I've never seen more than three people in it. Those three people

Service is always fast and my food is always warm .

After reading an excellent review in one of our papers, we decided to make a return visit to Piazza Del Sol. I vaguely remember it as being adequate, but not really outstanding - Times may have changed but this restaurant hasn't.It was OK but really not exceptional. I had the homemade Ravioli al Sugo. At $28 it was a healthy serve of ravioli BUT...If you are going to be truly traditional and serve your pasta Al Dente, then it should not be too hard to serve all of them the same way. Some of my ravioli were Al Dente whilst others were very well cooked thru - Very strange. At the price we paid it should have been perfect - But it wasn't.My wife had a Salmon pizza (which was rather light on the Salmon) for a $28 Pizza.The pizza was smothered with rocket which she quite enjoyed however the pizza was a little undercooked and somewhat disappointing.I believe that if you are pricing yourself towards the higher end of the market, then the customer has a right to expect the same from your food. With most mains priced in the Mid 30's...Pizza's in the mid to high 20's and pasta's edging $30, it should be a lot better.Would I bother to travel from south of the river to go back - Probably not.

Four of us decided to check out Piazza Del Sol after glowing reviews in the West Australian Newspaper. We thought we would compare it to the 4 best pizzeria restaurants in Perth/Fremantle., Ciao Italia (still number one and the best), Portarossa, Ruocco's and SandrinosGood point: No long queuesBad point: No long queuesWe were told we would have to wait for 15 minutes when we first arrived as there were no tables. A group of 4 who arrived about 10 minutes after we did were seated first. After we complained to the waitress, we were seated promptly. This sort of nonsense would never happen at Ciao ITalia. They need a system for people waiting on tables. The food: The margherita pizza and chilli mussels were good. Pane pizza starter was also good. The steak and risotto were disappointing.The limoncello dessert and tiramisu were good. We received OK service but table next to us had to ask three times to get salt and pepper!!We will not trust West Australian newspaper reviews in future and we won't be going back again
