There is plenty of inside seating in a rustic setting. Service is friendly and professional, and the food arrives within a short time, even though this place tends to be very busy. We enjoyed the venison, another family member chose the sausage salad( a local favorite), and everybody found the food very good. Prices are reasonable. We stuck with mineral water for a drink( we were drivers), the non-drivers loved the "Mostbowle"( a drink based on the local cider, which is refreshing). This place is only a few miles away from Tuebingen, and it is worth the drive!
We go here often for a quick drink during the months when they have their beer garden open. I wouldn't say the attraction here is the food- it is very tasty but nothing super special. The attraction really is the view from the wonderful beer garden with quick service. I often take visiting family from England here for a quick drink and the local Most is a real hit.
I enjoyed this place for a good evening meal. They are pet friendly, there is a play ground for children, and the food is very good as well.
Schwaerzloch is like a legend; a place to smell the country of Germany, a place, to have a view from Tuebingen to almost Rottenburg... and a very historic place.... those, who are interested in the 11-15th century have to come to this place... And those, who want to sit in al chapel... which is now part of the restaurant... will love it. In summertime, all the traditional "student unions" are celebrating their founding-rememberance,,, as we did, to celebrante 156th anniversary of the Guestfalia union. Food is great, so not miss a drink which is called "Moschbowle".... A drink from apples and water (alcoholic). And even if you would loke to just have a coke! ... Come!!!
The restaurant is located in the remains of a former catholic monastery that was "secularized" during the protestant reformation. This means that you can dine on what used to be the altar of the monastery´s chapel. While this provides already for a particular atmosphere, the outside dining area (more like a "Biergarten" or Beergarden) has awesome views of the Ammer-valley, particularly in the late afternoon/evening. The food is the typical Swabian (South-West German) mix of "Spätzle" (Pasta) and different kinds of "Schnitzel". The quality is not exceptional but reasonably priced. Below the Biergarten is a very nice playground, so if you are visiting with children, this place is close to perfect.
