Tugun Village Asian Food Takeaway

The Tugun Village is truly a local gem. The price is very reasonable, the staff are super friendly and welcoming. The quality and proportion sizes are amazing too. From experience, I would highly recommend the Mi Goreng cooked by chef Sam. Other recommended foods would be the Singapore noodles or the Honey Chicken.

I decided to order a classic combo—a great test for any kitchen—which included honey chicken and special fried rice. The kitchen had a wonderful aroma when I arrived to pick up my takeaway. The special fried rice was beautifully presented and featured slices of Chinese-style roast pork. The spices and seasonings for the pork were perfectly balanced, which really impressed me. The honey chicken was just as good, if not better, than what I had at Mr. Hizolas, and it was offered at a fraction of the price. It was garnished with sesame and fried egg noodles, and thankfully, it wasn’t overly sweet or greasy like many other places tend to serve. Both dishes carried a lovely, subtle smokiness thanks to a well-seasoned wok. If you're looking for honest, delicious Chinese/Cantonese food without the high prices you'd find in places like Burleigh, definitely give this spot a try. My only downside was the use of single-use plastic, but the food made up for it!

Six years ago, I discovered this incredible restaurant, and it has never failed to impress me. The food is always delicious, served in generous containers filled with fresh ingredients that you can hear sizzling in the kitchen, which is also visible to diners. Whenever I have to eat Chinese food elsewhere, it simply can't compare to the authenticity of this place. It's a friendly, family-run establishment and truly the best-kept secret on the Gold Coast. – Helen D.
