On our arrival, the landlord shook my hand and welcomed us, saying that it was good to know about such allergies and Caroline came out to double check with me what could be on my plate. Fantastic to receive this attention to detail and ensuring a positive food experience. All the serving staff were excellent and the meal was superb! I had a roast and have never seen such succulent beef and so much of it too! Thank you so much for looking after me so well. We live a long way away but will make The Chequers our food destination whenever we visit the South East.
We visited the Chequers for a family birthday/Sunday roast. The staff were really friendly and very attentive- they sang happy birthday and even put our flowers in some water. The food was excellent and the menu choices were good. We had a really lovely afternoon and will definitely return.
An excellent meal was enjoyed by our party of 23, a most enjoyable experience. We will definitely be back as a group in 2024!
We haven’t been here for a few months but have been keen to come back to this place for a while, the last time we was here we was served by Zoe, and it was lovely to see her Saturday night and have her as our waitress, there’s a new menu which we was excited about and must say it was lovely, what we did find interesting was towards the later part of the evening there was only one member of staff left looking after the guests and restaurant , not that there was anything to complain about , but the fact it looked a little busy I just couldn’t help but wonder if she was ok…hence why my review is a couple days late …..,hopefully next time we won’t leave it as long to come back ..oh they have the Bomb back!!!!!
Colin and Anne Marie on our way from Bexley to Bexhill we turned off the A21 to escape the torrential rain and standing water making our journey treacherous. Imagine our relief when we saw The Chequers Pub and Kitchen in Lamberhurst offering lunch and a warm and cosy shelter from the storm. We parked the car in the well appointed car park accessed by the side of the pub and rushed in. We were warmly welcomed by Helen and settled in the fresh and comfortable dining area. The artwork on the walls were fun and intriguing making for conversation over Lunch. We ordered drinks and ordered from the lunch menu. I had sausage and mash and Colin had flat ironed steak. The food was beautifully cooked and presented, the staff are welcoming and friendly and prices are competitive. I know we will be hurrying back as soon as we can. The gardens and riverside views are captivating even in a rain storm.
