El Chingon Tex Mex - Union

I rarely find a place with good service and good food. And I went last night with my family and it was excellent. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly, offered us options for food and drinks. All the food was really good, we were a group of 7 including 3 kids and everyone was very satisfied there were no complains at all. I would definitely come back!

The decor is super vibrant and fun, color and art everywhere. Went at 8ish on a Sunday night and was seated quickly. Heads up to introverts, people with noise sensitivity, the music was extremely loud...it was actually super jarring went I first walked in. You have to shout to be heard between songs...not a bad thing just something to consider. They have karaoke and a very fun vibe/atmosphere. I ordered chicken Nachos, which were a good size for the price and empanadas which are large and well filled, but the flavor was not my preference..had a vinegar background flavor. Again, not bad but not my favorite. Also had an horchata...very very sweet! They have lots of drink options and a pretty extensive menu. Would recommend for night out with friends/family, but maybe not a first date given the volume.

The service was great, but I have to be honest you can get better tacos in Union, if alcohol isn’t a must have. I happened to visit during a Karaoke night, which was unbearably loud and dominated the entire restaurant. Tacos were average, not bad but nothing special.Food: 3/5

Went to El Chingon yesterday with my husband for our Wedding Anniversary dinner and it did not disappoint! We’ve been here many times, but last night the bartender (a young lady) was on Fire! The frozen margheritas?were perfectly mixed. The food was fresh, tasty and delicious! When we informed our waiter that it was our wedding anniversary, Margarita the restaurant’s manager came to our table and surprised us with two tequila shots and a beautifully presented and delicious piece of tres leches cake. El Chingon Restaurant is truly a hidden gem in Union, NJ that everyone should visit…Soon!Kid-friendliness: Kids menu offered with delicious smaller food portions and deserts.
