I ordered the sweet potato ravioli. they must have run out of ingredients, since only one ravioli package had any filling the others were completely empty and flat. it would have been better to have said that they couldn't make it, I would have ordered something else and didn't waste my money.
After having done an exhausting Inca trail, we took another tour of the Sacred Valley which made a stop for lunch and the food really pleased me and my whole family thanks.
We were on a family trip to Peru and we had a guide for only the Sacred Valley part of it. We had been touring the area all day and wanted to eat a late lunch. After we went into the archeological park, our guide...said that we should eat here. He said it had the best food. He was the one who suggested to the husband and wife team that they should open up a restaurant after tasting their food. It's been a success even though you have to pay to enter that area. The food is delicious. Everyone else had more traditional Peruvian fare but I wanted something different for a change. I had butternut squash ravioli in a sage sauce that was delicious. It rivaled anything like that that I've been served in an Italian restaurant. The only thing was that it took quite some time to get our food even though the restaurant wasn't crowded. Otherwise, it was great. I'm so glad that our guide knew to recommend it.
We stopped at Merienda for lunch during our introductory tour of Cusco and the Sacred Valley. What a fantastic break from a busy travel day! Our guide informed us that our husband and wife hosts were trained in a Peruvian culinary institute and it showed. The service was great and the assortment of dishes we ordered were well prepared, and the presentations a delight to behold. We ordered everything from potato soup, to a quinoa salad, to a beef dish and topped it off with homemade mint ice cream. Our hosts offered us mint tea, which we gladly accepted. I even bought a freshly baked chocolate chip croissant from my next day's breakfast, but I couldn't resist that long; it was a treat!
