We had an outstanding experience here. The staff from owner to waiters were very welcoming. From the moment we were seated, the service was exceptional. It took just moments for our drink orders to arrive. Just 3 or 4 minutes later the food came. I was thrilled with the very traditional style cooking. The enchiladas were well flavored and the tomatilla sauce was bursting with flavor. My dinner mate was equally thrilled with her arroz con pollo. There was no problem getting extra mushrooms and the portion size was generous enough to supply the next day's lunch. We highly recommend this family restaurant to anyone looking for true authentic Mexican food.
Spicy salsa with chips now? Awesome! I can't feel my tongue... Awww. (Totally worth it.
This restaurant has been open for... I don't know. At least 10 years. I grew up in the Heights (or H-Town as I call it and played softball at David Douglas Park right up the street. My family and I have been eating here since then. Where to begin. EVERYTHING is AMAAAAAAZING! No joke. Margaritas: get the Cadillac. The shot of Grand Mariner really sets it off. plus it's huge. The food.... is mouth-watering. Always hot. The mole is delicious. Shrimp enchiladas ridiculous (ask for them spicy and burritos are HUGE. My favorite waiter, Tony, has worked there forever, and he usually just makes up some stuff for me and my family. The last time we were there he made fajitas for my sister with some cheesy sauce.... sounds weird. But anyone who loves cheese will agree: cheese on anything has to be good! Can we have a moment for the salsa??? I could drink it. I want to, right now. Just writing about it, I can taste it. They sell it in pretty good-sized containers for $5. We buy it all the time. They also sell bags of chips for.... I don't know. A dollar. (We have different chips we like at home; the ones at the restaurant are amazing, but way better warm at the restaurant then at home, cold. If you love Mexican, and have never been here, DRIVE HERE NOW! More than worth it.
I was in Vancouver for the weekend, and thought this would be a good place to eat on Saturday night. It was about 8:30 when I got there, and was greeted at the door, taken to our booth and given menus. A few minutes later, the chips arrived. I will admit, I generally do go overboard on chips before my mexican meal. But let me tell you, these chips were the best I've ever had. I absolutely loved the chip texture (I didn't even know i cared about chip texture until I had these! and how thick they were. Our server was very prompt, polite, and helpful. Their menu was large, with many entree items to choose from. I ended up having (what I thought at the time a pretty large meal. Chicken enchilada, chili relleno, beef burrito, and rice beans. Their combination meals all had 3 items on them, but they were small compared to most other mexican restaurants I've been to. The food was OK, not great. I've had better mexican. If you go here, make sure to have the chips. The food was ok, but the chips made my night. Service was excellent, and I could not have asked for anything more. If I'm in Vancouver again, I might go back for the pre-dinner chips and a chili relleno, but the enchilada and burrito were nothing special.
