I don’t make it downtown very often so, when I had the chance in mid-February, I popped by Le Petit Belge for an early morning breakfast. True to their name, this location is kind of small and I was glad that I went early as it quickly filled up in the morning. As you enter, you’ll come to the counter where you place and pay for your order before sitting down.
The Majesty I Waffle ($9.99) had a rating of 4 out of 5. It featured a Brussels waffle topped with banana slices, two scoops of ice cream, a generous amount of whipped cream, and a drizzle of caramel and candied nuts. The presentation was beautiful, and thankfully, it tasted just as fantastic as it looked. The waffle was crispy, light, and practically melted in my mouth. The ice cream and whipped cream were delightful additions, but my favorite part was the caramel and candied nuts - I only wish there had been more of them.
Stopped in for their special, waffle, bacon and eggs with a coffee. And man, scrambled eggs so light, they use the bacon to stop it floating away. A fun and quick breakfast.
This place has really become popular since the 3 years I was last here! There was a line out the door at 1030am on a Sunday morning. We got a seat in about 20 min which was better than 2 hrs at Cafe Medina. Again, the waffles were impressive, both savoury and the sweet. Although if I was going to be really picky, the savoury prosciutto waffle could have used a bit more sauce of sorts to be less dry overall. My caramel macchiato was decadent, but not the most aromatic coffee I've had. They have since ramped up their number of staff too, who are all friendly and attentive.
