The Charles Bar Ltd - Vancouver

We were looking for a happy hour place after a day of biking at Stanley Park and stumbled upon this place.

Fun spot in Vancouver that we had somehow overlooked for quite some time They serve some solid cocktails (get there early for happy hour!!).

I've been seriously wondering about writing this review or not for the past 14 hours, but after much thought I must get it out there. This morning, I went to The Charles Bar for brunch with about 9 different people.Everyone else said that there food was sub-par, but I can only really give you a review on my own so, here it goes:I was served what I ordered the CB Benny, the presentation was beautiful, however halfway through my meal I noticed a hair in my eggs, this hair was long and blond, so I know it did not fall out of my head onto the plate as lets just say I'm follically challenged as of late. Ok, you know what this sort of thing happens, I can accept that, so I asked for the server to look at it and she seemed as shocked as me and took it away and asked if I wanted another, I said sure.The second order came and well, let's just say you could taste that it was rushed to put together. Then, this is the thing that really frustrated me, when the bill came for everyone, the server put a bill in front of me and said, oh don't worry, we only charged you for one of the breakfasts. I was in complete shock just as everyone else at the table was and so I suggested to her that the meal should be comped as it that would bee the norm at most restaurants, she said she'd talk to the manager, the manager came over and said, we have taken 20% off the bill for the trouble, and this is where I became very frustrated and said that I would not pay it and the other people sitting with me also stated that I should not pay.Finally after much discussion, the manager said she would take the bill back and adjust it for me, I was thinking OK, that is the end of that. Nope, they still charged me for my coffee I drank. OK, Fair enough, Whatever, I paid the $3 for the coffee and walked out with 9 others thinking what poor customer service this place offers.Before I left the restaurant however, I needed to use the washroom, and let's just say it was as dirty as the customer service level, toilet paper all over the floor and no soap in the soap dispenser. Let's just say I wont be going back to the Charles Bar anytime soon.

Drinks and food were both good and reasonably priced for Vancouver. Nice looking place. The door guy managed to find us a seat part way through the game which was awesome. Exceptionally attentive service considering it was quite a busy day! Lots of choices for beer as well!
