Wabi On Rose - Venice Beach

Food is good. Ambiance is nice. Service isn’t great; it’s slow and staff forgot several times about various things.

Not as good as we’d hoped, not terrible. The table smelled like a dog had gone to the bathroom nearby. The miso soup was crazy salty and lacked seaweed. Anthony Bourdain said that was a bad omen that if a restaurant couldn’t get miso soup right, their sushi would be no good. In this case, the sushi was solid, but not outstanding amongst LA’s offerings. The service was lacking. We constantly had to clear our own dishes and make room. Employees would stop by, see the dirty dishes, and still leave them there. Overall, solidly meh. I wouldn’t say to avoid, but I wouldn’t come back.

Ambience and service were great. Food was disappointing this time— from shishito peppers which were way too hot to eat to a Midnight roll of overcooked fish, to sashimi which wasn’t at the peak of freshness or quality. Last meal I had there was far better.

Wonderful staff, food, drinks and atmosphere. Favorite restaurant because of its unique vibe of California glamorous, beach casual and delicious foods. The staff is warm and welcoming to everyone.
