Koba Sushi - Ventura

What a fantastic traditional and authentic style Japanese sushi bar. I believe yelp, that after leaving the ventura county, I'll be on the way.

Probably my favorite sushi along the coast of san francisco to los angeles. super fresh, tasty fish. it's about the fish, no dress-up here.

Only one fyi, I came to lunch today and they were closed. there is a sign on the door that they are only open and closed on Wednesday until Saturday 5:30.

It is not easy to find a traditional Japanese sushi bar in this area: Koba sushi is definitely your best option, if you're looking for one! Toshi san offers no frills, interesting and fresh nigiri cuts with generous portions at the right price. Highly recommended, I will go again when I find myself in the area.

This place is a local treasure. I tried 3 sushi places in Ventura before going to Koba. Koba is my absolute favorite, without a close second. I now go weekly. The rice is perfectly flavored and cooked. The fish is high quality and generously portioned. Nothing is smothered in sauce. I have not been to Japan, but imagine this is a genuine representation of an excellent sushi place. I think it is affordable compared to other places, even though it is much better. I’d say even underpriced given the exceptional quality of the food and service. The people are really friendly as well. It is a small place. I always eat at the sushi bar, but there are also a few tables. It feels more like dining at someone’s home. I should have written this sooner, because they deserve your business and you deserve their service but I was hesitant to give up a secret because then it might get too busy given it is a small place! haha Thank you for the amazing dining experience. You all are the best!
