City Tavern-Victor

We have always enjoyed the atmosphere and food at this restaurant and often stop by when in this part of the city. However, our most recent visit was disappointing. The waitress was good, but the food was not up to par. The potatoes served with the steak were cold, and the Mac n cheese, which we had heard was delicious, was a letdown - just a few noodles with sauce on a plate. The overall meal cost us $120, and we felt it was a disappointing experience. The waitress even took a portion off our bill because she knew the quality of the food was not up to standard. Despite this, we will likely give the restaurant another chance, but will opt for less expensive items next time.

Server, Kelly was fantastic. She was honest with her assessment of certain courts and took the time to go to the people in my party who are older and a little hard to hear instead of screaming over the table. The Mac and the cheese was amazing, but I would like to have a way to make a kind of vegetables (broccoli, zucchini etc.) or a salad with it, the Cuban reubs were made according to the desired specifications. Kelly put a special note on the Philly cheese steak and checked before it on the table to make sure it wasn't too good and dry. The pork chop special was huge enough for lunch the next day. I decided to sit closer to the fireplace in the dining room for those who are always cold in our party. It was very nice, but the crowd in the bar was very loud and distracting. There are many TVs to monitor whatever sports are running and those were at a reasonable level and did not interfere with a regular conversation at the table. Overall we had good time and the food was delicious.

The service was excellent. The ambiance was a bit noisy, but lively. Unfortunately, the tacos were not good. The Gin and Tonic was watered down. I would not recommend this restaurant unless I give it another try.

It was an amazing dinner and atmosphere. Everyone was friendly and helpful.

Made reservations for 4 at the last minute on a Friday nite. Arrived less than 20 minutes later and our table was ready in the bar area, perfect. Service was very good and was our drinks and entrees.
