La Taquisa - Victoria

I was first introduced to La Taquisa about two years ago by a close friend and every since then it has been my go to for tacos in Victoria BC.

I tried 5 of the about 10 taco types they offer and felt they were all somewhat lacking in taste.

We went for lunch and each one of us had the tortilla soup with rojas and chicken. The soup was tasty and filling. Perfect for lunch. This place is not fancy and consistently offers good Mexican food.

This friendly counter-based restaurant promises Mexican character and food. The food is reasonably good but the atmosphere is more McDonald's that characterful. The rear courtyard has potential but it needs something more. The menu needs more explanation since many items are unfamiliar to the uninitiated. Not as memorable as I had expected.

First of all, the order-taker/cashier was unfriendly. Don't ask about your options! Then, I had a fish taco, a shrimp taco, and a chicken mole taco. The best one was fair, but not delicious. The fish taco was so salty it was like they had stored it in brine or something.
