We were a group of 10. The breakfast selection was extensive and had some unique dishes. That place was large and very clean. Prices were reasonable.
I had seen a review the night before BUT wasn't sure where it was and We were short on time so didn't go THEN. Leaving town to day after having been in Centro rushed back to check out of the hotel before 1 PM ....Make a few turns to get to the highway and everyone is hungry .....Look to my right and what to I see what is think is the PLACE ...Mendoza's . In short the BEST .......everything was fantastic . Not only was the Berria to die for the tacos were the nest I have ever had in Mexico ...I've lived here 20 years !!!!
The Durango, Durango, Mexico (Durango, Colorado was named after it) one of the oldest cities in the Western Hemisphere (450 years old) has finally started to attract the tourist trade it deserves following the construction of the new highway from Mazatlan. One of its many...attractions is very authentic Mexican food (sorry no Tex-Mex here). An excellent addition is Mendoza 's. It is situated in the wonderful old historic district, and is a restaurant and a museum of many artifacts from the 1940 's or so. They are tastefully displayed behind glass cases with good lighting. The menu has many very typical Mexican dishes, which will be an adventure for those unacquainted with the wide variety of the real thing. The service was exceptional and the restaurant itself is like the interior of an old hacienda with many different rooms with varying ambiance to choose from. The restaurant is run by four generations of Mendoza family to make sure that things are run right. Entertainment is available in the evening, for example in a few days there will be show about the history of the tango. This is a unique little gem.
Price is a little bit above of the average, but the flavor and taste of the birria is outstanding, also the cafe de olla is ok, a great place to have some birria!
