Gothems Cantina Y Casitas - Visby

Gothem's Cantina is a pleasure. We have not explored Gotland with any particular agenda and were lucky to happen on the Cantina as we were hungry. Our daughter was at the end of a ten-month scholarship in Sweden, and she was in love with the country, but authentic (and really good) Mexican food made her day. We had a nice chat with the owner, got some recommendations for things nearby to see, and could not have been happier to share their culinary skills with Gotland. The image I attach is from 2016, so it cannot be 100% up to date.

I am not a fan of Mexican food, because in the EU it is usually excessively spicy Mexican food, but this was really good. The basic dish is mild and you can use the salsa sauce to make it as spicy as you want.

This place is INCREDIBLE!!!!!! I moved from Texas and have been living in Sweden for a year. I have reallyyy been missing really good Mexican food and I can assure you this place is extremely authentic. Seriously so delicious and hands down best Mexican food I have had in Sweden thus far. I am really hoping they open a place in Stockholm soon..... I cannot recommend enough and also the owners are extremely nice!

We were staying at nearby Liste Garde and our host mentioned this place to us. We are so glad she did! Excellent Mexican food served up in huge portions by the super friendly American owner. Room is simple cantina style you order at the till so it was busy but there are lots of tables. Highly recommend.

Amidst meadows of sheep and a lonely church the Texas and Mexican flags hang proud. It's a tex max haven tucked away in the heartland of northeast Gotland. Sumptuous tacos burritos and baby back ribs better than anything I've tasted in Fort Worth or Austin. A lovely vibe with good outdoor seating and fast friendly service. This Californian born entrepreneur left the west coast to serve delicious burritos tacos and ceviche to the Swedish summer crowd.
