The Studholme - Waimate

After receiving a recommendation from a local, my wife and I chose to dine at the Studholme Hotel. It turned out to be a culinary experience that shouldn't be missed. The steak was cooked to perfection—tender and exactly as described on the menu. The service was prompt, the prices were reasonable, and it was an experience to be cherished. We highly recommend it!

This was my third visit for dinner, this time with a friend. We arrived just before 8 on a Friday night, and there was only one table available. However, we were served quickly, and the portion sizes were generous. The menu had so many appealing options that it was tough to decide, but I settled on the pasta with pork, fennel, and chili. It had a nice amount of each ingredient, resulting in a well-balanced and flavorful dish. My friend enjoyed his burger as well.

A 'not obvious to find ' place behind a Fonterra milk processor but what a nice gem! This 116 year old hotel has just 6 rooms still with the air of being in 1916. Amenities and facilities are all modern of course. The bar and small dining area is contemporary, well done and comfortable. Local residents are keen to chat. There 's a place near but away from the bar for children to play. The management is relaxed and trusting. Super friendly helpful. For us, we enjoyed our one night in room 5 with a realy nice meal. Rural history of this calibre is to be savoured. Thanks Sam.

We chose to stay here based on the reviews, and they did not disappoint! Sam, the staff, and the locals were all wonderful. The rooms were amazing—this was my first time sleeping in a four-poster bed, and it was incredibly comfortable. It's conveniently located just 15 minutes from Riverstone Kitchen and the castle. Thank you, Sam! We’ll definitely be back!
