Tara's Kitchen - Wakefield

This place may look like a dive, but don’t let appearances fool you. Tara prepares her pub food and pizzas with genuine care. She’s a true treasure, and if you don’t feel compelled to leave a generous tip, it must be one of her off days. I’d definitely return to the UP just for one of Tara’s burgers (and those amazing fries). I had three boys with me – two teenagers and a preteen – and they polished off a 16-inch pepperoni pizza in no time; I didn’t even get to have a slice! I wish they offered some higher-end beers, but that’s just a minor detail.

A true hidden gem! This place is a delightful surprise. The food is fantastic, and the bartender/cook is incredibly friendly. It's the kind of spot where they'd get to know and genuinely care about you if you became a regular.

Absolutely perfect! After a backpacking trip, I emerged from the Porkies craving a burger and a beer more than anything. The burger was simply incredible. I highly recommend taking the friendly bartender's suggestion—add an egg to that double cheeseburger, topped with generous chunks of bacon and melted cheese. Don't be afraid to get your fingers a little dirty; you can wash your hands later! Pair it with some hearty steak fries, a refreshing summer shandy, and a baseball game, and you’ve got a delightful experience. I can't recommend this place enough. It's the perfect spot to satisfy your burger and beer cravings after camping. Go grab one, everyone!
