Bistro Gentil - Wanaka

Delicious food and excellent service! However, I did have a few minor issues. We started with the sourdough as an appetizer, but it arrived cold despite being toasted and had a somewhat stale taste. Fortunately, I quickly forgot about it when the other dishes came out. I ordered the pork belly as my appetizer, and it was heavenly, featuring a delightful balance of sweet and savory flavors. It was served lukewarm, but that didn’t matter because my main course, the lamb, was undoubtedly my favorite. The combination of nuts and meat alongside the sweet elements was truly unique, and I highly recommend it. My partner chose the beef, which was also very good. For dessert, we tried the lemon meringue and crème brûlée. The crème brûlée was the best I’ve ever had—definitely don’t miss it! Unfortunately, the lemon meringue didn’t quite measure up.

We cannot praise Bistro Gentil enough. We held our intimate wedding reception there, and the experience was nothing short of incredible. The staff was exceptional, and everything exceeded our expectations.

I have no complaints about BG whatsoever. The service was excellent and incredibly friendly. We enjoyed sitting in the patio area, which offered a fantastic view and a lovely atmosphere. The food was also great.

This restaurant has become a must-visit for us every time we come to Wanaka, often for our birthdays. It consistently delivers excellent cuisine and top-notch service. Our group of four ordered a variety of dishes from the menu, and everything was delicious. The wine selection is great as well.
