Rakuya - Washington

I stopped by for a quick bite during happy hour and was impressed by the shishito peppers—they were fantastic, seasoned just right with salt and lemon. The agedashi tofu was also impressive; the tofu was cooked to perfection, and the accompanying sauce and sides were great. The deluxe spicy tuna roll had good-quality tuna with a nice kick, but there were way too many tempura flakes, making it feel like I was eating a mouthful of Rice Krispies. The avocado eel roll was messy and had very little avocado. Overall, the appetizers were good, but the rolls were a bit disappointing.

I had a wonderful experience dining at Rakuya. The sushi and ramen were both delightful. The pork in the shoyu ramen was incredibly tender, and the noodles were cooked just right. The sushi rolls were fantastic, particularly the wasabi dynamite roll. Each roll was loaded with fresh fish and vegetables. I would give it a 10/10 and definitely return!

The service here is very friendly, and it's quite a popular place for lunch. I definitely recommend making a reservation. It’s a solid choice for a $30 lunch. The food is good, though not outstanding, but that doesn't always matter. My friends and I visit occasionally for lunch since it’s a convenient location for all of us.

One of the decent sushi restaurants in DC. We ordered chicken karaage and sushi and roll combo. It was delicious! The fish was fresh and chicken karaage was great. The rice was just a little bit hard though. I would also not advise getting a bottled peach white ale just cause it?s way cheaper at the Rice Market. Lastly, the place can get packed depending on the day and time, so make a reservation in advance to avoid wait times.

Rakuya is an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING part izakaya, part resto style experience. THE FOOD IS DELICIOUS and adequately priced. On top of that, servers are really nice and the service is really fast. An absolute must try resto if you are in DC. This resto is also a few steps away from the Dupont circle metro station exit so a car is also not necessary to get to it. Finally, make sure you make a reservation before you go in as it's absolutely packed with people in the evening
