What a hole in the wall. I went here and ordered breakfast. They didnt have home fries so I said just give me the omelet and it came to $7.94. I was thinking the Chinese lady would make an exception of the minimum $10 purchase as I always go there. She told me to get a juice or something. I said neverminded. This place is greasy and the food is not fresh. Im going to stop eating from these Chinese people. Their service is horrible and nasty. They will not get any more of my money! CLOSE FOR GOOD!!
It ain't much to look at but behind the worn-out exterior is a delicious family-run counter with incredible breakfast sandwiches for dirt cheap. Locals come here all the time for a reason!Vegetarian options: egg+cheese sandwich, vegetable boxes
Family Dinette looks terrifying on the outside. The run-down building, with a somewhat scruffy door canopy, looks like a place that 's one step away from collapsing under the weight of its health inspection violations. DO NOT BE DETERRED! Your adventurousness will soon be rewarded.People come to Family Dinette for the food and for the warm personality of the owner. Regular patrons earn Honey status and an enthusiastic greeting when they come through the door. Even for strangers, the woman at the counter makes the process of giving an order and receiving your food as fun as it can be.Food here is good--not amazing, but a solid win. I have only been here for lunch, but there is an extensive breakfast menu, and I get the impression that 's the busiest time for this place, which opens at 6 or 6:30 in the morning. Lunch options range from the ubiquitous (burger, cheese steak sub) to the more unusual (bulgogi, stir-fried vegetables, bulgogi-marinated burger). Portions are large, and the lunch combos are a particularly good value. The inside ambiance is minimal at best (this is a carry-out restaurant, after all), but you have a clear view of the busy grill/griddle.DC once had dozens of little carry-out places like this, but they 've become an endangered species due to rampant gentrification. Family Dinette proudly carries on this old tradition, and I hope they 're able to stick around for a long time to come.Parking: Family Dinette is in the shadow of the Verizon Center. Street parking is typically available within a block or so; it 's likely not worth pulling into a parking garage to visit here.
This place is not the prettiest but the food is good and cheap love it
