Thorndon Chippery - Wellington

I don't think this will become a regular spot for me due to the prices, but it's a great choice if you're in the mood for a guilty pleasure lunch every now and then. It can get really busy, so be prepared for a wait for both a table and your food. It's nice that they offer a vegan burger too!

When we arrived, the place was packed. They estimated a wait time of 25 minutes, but it actually ended up taking 50 minutes. However, I have to say it was well worth the wait. I expected it might be a bit pricey, but I’m not too concerned about cost if the food is excellent. I ordered the soft-shell crab burger, coleslaw, terakihi, and chips. The chips were crispy and served hot. Overall, the meal was delicious. I appreciated the option to choose from different batters and having the fish selections available before ordering was a nice touch as well. Great fish and chips!

Excellent fish and chips! While it's on the pricier side, there's really no comparison to other options around. The fish is cooked to perfection, and the crinkle-cut chips are wonderful (you could easily share a single serving). Pair it all with a nice local beer for a great dining experience.

The chippery is great if you're in a delicious greasy mood. Generous proportions at a fair price. The fish is battered very nicely, crunchy on the outside while moist in the inside. The curly fries are a MUST along side their home made aioli.

I usually go there for their burgers, as they are super good and originals; The curly fries are delicious too and this outlet is located in Murphy street.
