If you are from a small town, this is the place100% to be- it reminds me of a place you would go to, to see all of the friendly faces you would want to be around. Would recommend 10/10 to hangout here.
Knowledgeable about wines and friendly staff. Fun environment to visit and shop.Food: 5/5
Great place to hang and wonderful selection of wines, beer, and bubbly. Owner very accommodating to our group of 30+. Looking forward to the opening of the expansion.Service: 5/5
This spot is the perfect place to roll in after a long day, parlay, enjoy an excellent cocktail and wind down! The staff are wonderful and I plan on being a regular!Service: 5/5
Definitely a good local hangout for gatherings and beer. Great local beer selection for draft and in the coolers. Solid variety. Bright open space for tables. Great for hanging out! As a wine lover, however, I will say that wine is definitely secondary here, and that's where my perspective for this review will come from. Their Old World bottle selection is incredibly limited. They do have a good selection for wines by the glass that I definitely appreciate: Cava for bubbles, Vinho Verde for white and Malbec for Reds. They have many selections by the glass but it was mostly sweeter wines for your whites and CA based for reds.. ie: not my bag, but others may appreciate! A couple came in while we were here, asking for a Bordeaux. The bartender looked confused initially and said that she didn't think they had any. She came around to look and said that she hadn't seen one here in awhile. When the couple left, she told her coworker that she really didn't know anything about wine and doesn't like Reds. Her coworker agreed, also not knowing anything about wine. This is why I love Brindisi across the street, they're just not open on Sundays right now, which is when and why I came here. But Whistle Stop and Brindisi are *very* different vibes.. which is great and totally fine! All depends on what vibe you're looking for. Both are perfect. I will definitely frequent here. You'll just need to know your wines and/or what you're looking for. My only real negative comment though is that when we came in and walked up to the bartender, she was vaping and that smell and the smoke all around was really off-putting and unprofessional.
