A's Backstreet Cafe - West Jefferson

The subs we ordered were good. Boarshead meat was excellent, but it took a full hour ???? to make 2 sandwiches. They wouldn?t give us iced tea because they didn?t want to make any (and told us so). We ordered chips with the sandwiches, but they forgot to put them in the bag. It was a picnic lunch to be eaten on the BRP, so we didn?t know until we arrived at the picnic (an hour late) that the chips were missing. The 3 people behind the counter were working diligently to get orders out, but it was obvious that phone orders were given priority over waiting customers. A word of wisdom, should you choose to eat there, call your order in before you go. WAY before you go.

Always amazing subs!! Quick, never had to wait more than 10 minutes. Delicious and fresh food.

The staff was very, very friendly. They did a good job on our visit of getting out of the weeds with some teamwork and plowing through a very busy lunch service. The milkshakes and grilled cheese were good. The hot dog had something special about it. The bread on the subs killed the sandwiches for us. I did not feel like the bread did justice to the inner ingredients. Would gladly have paid more for a better sub roll.

I asked for a Philly with green peppers,onions and pepper jack cheese. I asked for no mushrooms specifically. So I found one on my sub and the whole thing tasted wanky. They messed up and put mushrooms on my sub and then picked them off. We waited 25 min for that. Never again

Subs were great! It's a small town sub place with fresh bread! Even have some hot dogs on the menu
