White Spot - Westbank

We were on our way out from Kelowna and decided to stop by the White Spot for lunch. This was my first time at a White Spot, and for a family-friendly restaurant the food was actually pretty good. I ordered their Monty Mushroom burger, upgraded the fries to a poutine (which they provided a lot of curds and most important the gray melted it!). It was filling in the end and it didn't cost an arm and leg.

I haven' ever been disappointed with my meal here. They have a good selection with a daily special. A good children's menu and a good activity booklet to keep kids amused while waiting. The service was very good also. My Blueberry Tart was awesome!

I like when Eggs Benedict is on the menu, and the server asks how you would like your eggs poached. It tells me they know something about Eggs Benedict and people's personal preferences which can make or break the dining experience.The service was friendly and efficient, food was delivered hot and nicely presented on the plate. A small menu with a few basics missing, french toast was not listed but I overhead the waitress tellling other diners that it was an option. Too bad I didn't know that!

Ordered a Nats Hearty breakfast for pick up. Pay for my order and stand and wait, while waiting I watched and overheard the server ask the kitchen to put it in a new to go box because they melted the plastic under a heat lamp with my food inside. I then watched one of the cooks wipe her hands on her filthy apron, physically make a bowl shape with her hand, scoop my cooked eggs, potatoes etc.. into a new container with her bare hand, wipe her hands again on the filthy apron and then close the container. The servers watched them do this, and still tried to serve it to me. I asked if they handle cooked food with their hands often to which she replied "we try not to but yes, we don't use gloves". Someone will get sick eating here. I was refunded my money, less the tip I had left. I used to order for pick up fairly often at this location. I will NEVER go here again.

A small group of 3 of us went to this location while on vacation and had the most disappointing time ever.. We arrived to hear that the New York steak was on special and so we ordered it on the waitress' reccomendation.. My partner and we all ordered the meat to be Med- Well. We there was our mistake, as the cooks there I dont believe are trained to know what Med-Well is.. When our steaks arrived I cut into it and the first thing it did was bleed at me.. I called over the girl and she was full of appologies and took the steaks back that was 2 our of the 3 had this.. the other person said that he would try it as he was hungry.. After our friend had finished his steak, my partners and mine showed up , leaving our friend to sit and watch us eat.. the second time we got it , was a slight bit more cooked, however still red in the middle.. I mentioned this to the waitress and she got the manager, the manager told us that well done steak was still PINK in the middle according to THEIR standards and that she would take 20.00 off the bill.. However I gather we were misled about the price as the girl told us that the steak was on special because when we got the bill it showed all the steaks at their regular price and yes she took off the 20.00 , however the difference between it being at full price and the special was that we paid exactly what the price for the special would have been.. I have eaten at White Spot for years and have never had this kind of treatment.. I sent in the survey, which goes to the manager of the store and not their head office and the reply was well we all have a bad day and that she hoped that our next experience would be better.. NO NO NOi WILL NOT be going back..
