At The Rail - Wilmington

It was a very weird experience to eat at the At the Rail Restaurant on a Saturday night. There was no almost one there between the 6:30 to 7:30 time period the we dined. There definitely was no need to make a reservation as I had done. All but one other table were empty. Did the rest of New Castle Co. no something bad about this restaurant that I did not? Besides being empty, the dining was very very dark, so dark that we could not read the menu without the assistance of the flashlight App on our phones. Since the restaurant was so empty, I was afraid to order a hot meal entree, was the food fresh, or spoiled??? I opted to try the French Onion Soup it was very tasty and presented nicely and a Crab Cobb Salad $18. My dining partner also had the soup but ordered a Harvest Salad with a steak add on $36. My sale was large and fresh, but his salad was smaller, but the steak was cooked rare as ordered and tender. The service was good considering we were the one of two tables our waitress had to serve but being all alone in a huge dining room on a Saturday night made me think something was wrong with this place. Other restaurants in the Newark- Christiana area are always very busy on Saturday nights, so it came as a complete surprise to be the only people there. There is a view of the Golf Course, maybe I will try At the Rail again in daylight to be able to read the menu and look at the view. With 2 glasses of wine and tip included it cost us $100. to not clearly see what we were eating. There was large unused grand piano in the dining too. I wonder if and when it gets used?

Our Family spent the day at the movies then later had decided to end our day having dinner at the rail. We haven’t been there in a year so we hoped things hadn’t changed much. We had a great time and had a great server. My husband and I discussed having a lunch date in a week or two at the rail. Thank You

Amazing food and service. Enjoyed by everyone. Best crab cakes in Delaware! Piano music was a nice touch. Will return very soon.

My only complaint is that they no longer have real table cloths . Which is one of the reasons I dine there please bring back the elegance. Raise the price of the food if you have to but bring back the table cloths.

Great dining experience. We will go back in the summer .
