Írjon visszajelzéstJ. Michael's Philly Deli is a small chain of restaurants located in Wilmington, NC, with three locations: Hanover Center, Monkey Junction, and Porter’s Neck. I’ve visited all of them, so instead of focusing on one specific place, I’ll share my thoughts on the chain as a whole. Usually, I prefer to explore restaurants without reading other reviews first, but for this occasion, I decided to break my rule and see what others had to say, especially since people can be quite particular about cheesesteaks. Has anyone ever come across a healthy Philly cheesesteak? I didn’t think so! It seems a bit unfair that so many complaints revolve around the cheesesteaks not being healthy. In my opinion, that's just bad luck. If anyone can show me a healthy version, I might be inclined to sell you some moon property (specifically at Taurus-Littrow Valley). J. Michael's Philly Deli brings back memories of my favorite college spot in Augusta, Georgia, known as The Village Deli—an establishment that was beloved among students and lunch-breakers for its tasty offerings. It was just about great food, which is really all that matters, especially during college years. This place stands out as one of the last bastions against corporate chains like Denny’s and IHOP. While cheesesteaks are the star attraction at J. Michael's, the menu also includes hoagies, grinders, burgers, sandwiches, salads, and a variety of appetizers. Their desserts are fairly standard, but I can vouch for their cheesecake being quite good. The ambiance features café-style tables, wooden chairs, faux wood paneling, and plastic furnishings, giving it a diner-like feel. Interestingly, I discovered that to qualify as a diner, there needs to be a long counter with stools on one side and booths on the other. Who would have known?! Now, while J. Michael’s may not serve the best cheesesteak I've ever had, it’s definitely enjoyable. Some people claim it's not an authentic cheesesteak because they use a cheese sauce instead of real cheese. That’s simply not true! I've been to Philadelphia numerous times, and I can assure you that they often use cheese sauce rather than slices of melted cheese. To be honest, I was quite surprised when I asked where to find a great Philly cheesesteak during a visit to downtown Philadelphia and was told, “If you’re in Philly, it’s just a cheesesteak.” I’ve found their cheesesteaks to be quite good. My wife is particularly fond of their homemade potato chips (which they call "frips") served with a side of ranch dressing for dipping. I usually go for their fried mushrooms and onion rings as sides. In the past, I've enjoyed both their hot pastrami and various sandwiches, consistently leaving satisfied. In response to health criticisms, J. Michael's introduced a healthier selection on their menu. However, it’s akin to going to a chocolate shop and opting for a celery stick—why put yourself through that? Indulge in a cheesesteak and savor life; it’s too short not to!
Keep an eye on the cheese steaks—they're always generously portioned and really satisfying. Just steer clear of the meatball sub; it's like biting into sheet metal!
Chicken Philly is always a go-to for me! I order it without cheese and with light onions. I'm totally hooked on their ranch dressing; I put it on everything (check out the pictures)! I also love their fried mushrooms, fries, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, and chicken. It’s truly a Wilmington staple!
Love this place!! Never had a bad time! Philly with Mayo, black olives!! Yummy
