Pewsey Chinese Takeaway - Wiltshire

Yesterday evening, we ordered and picked up three orders of cod and chips, as well as a pie and some additional side dishes. Unfortunately, all three pieces of cod were the same size and shape, resembling more of a plaice than cod. The batter was thick and doughy, reminiscent of a generic frozen supermarket brand. The fish inside was dry, with little flavor and difficult to cut without it falling apart. The pie was unappetizing, with a filling that appeared to have already been eaten once. The mushy peas lacked any discernible taste, and the curry sauce was so excessively salty that we ended up throwing it out, along with the rest of our £30 meal.

Fish and chips were average at best and quite expensive. I am almost certain that the fish is bought frozen, already battered and then fried, which is just lazy, making it not so fresh. The fish was thin and full of batter and did not have that fresh taste to it. Why do you only accept cash????? We will not be using again.

Although we are new to the area, we decided to try the fish and chips on our first visit to this restaurant. We were initially uncertain about how they would taste, but were pleasantly surprised by how delicious they were. A few weeks later, we tried the Chinese takeaway which was also very good. We definitely plan on becoming regular customers at this restaurant.

We do often get a takeaway from here, not having many options in the village. This is a reliable restaurant for chinese food with a good range of options. The fish and chips is average, but again perfectly edible, reliable, and occasionally very good. Worth a visit if in the area, and wanting take out.
