The place offers beautiful views of the hills and some vineyards. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they encouraged us to sample the wines. We chose to get a bottle of the Sarah wine. I’m not an expert on this grape, but I found it to be very balanced and slightly drier than I expected. An added bonus is the attached brewery, which serves good beer and provides a nice atmosphere with knowledgeable staff. I would definitely return to both the restaurant and brewery!
I visited a Greek Thavma food truck at this location on a lovely, cool day with perfect weather. The festive music added to the atmosphere, featuring a fun mix of tunes—even some yodeling! I shared a gyro sandwich with my boyfriend, and it was delicious. I also tried the lamb riblets, which were incredibly fresh and well-seasoned. We did a $20 wine tasting that included five generous samples. They have a brewery on site as well. I especially enjoyed the 2020 Petite Syrah. The view while tasting was absolutely stunning. Overall, it was a beautiful day!
On the Sunday we visited, a food truck from Buckhorn Grill was on site. Unfortunately, we spent a bit too long at the tasting room on Main Street, which made us lose track of time and caused us to miss our reservation at another winery in Clarksburg. It was disappointing to have to skip the food. The outdoor seating is plentiful, offering picnic tables, lounge chairs, and patio furniture for guests to enjoy. However, indoor seating is quite limited. There is a stage for live music, though I believe they only host performances on Saturdays. It's worth noting that the vineyards are set in the gentle hills east of Lake Berryessa and are too far to walk to from the winery. Overall, it’s a pleasant venue with a relaxed atmosphere.
Visited on a very busy Saturday afternoon. Berryessa Gap Vineyards has two tasting locations. This is their production center that is shared with the Berryessa Brewing Company next door. They also have a tasting room on Main Street in Historic Downtown Winters. Lots of outdoor seating. Make a reservation on the weekend for a lounge chair or opt for a picnic table. Limited inside seating available inside the airconditioned tasting room (which was nice to cool off in the 106 F valley heat wave). The wines were accompanied by a nice charcuterie board. The smoked gouda was so delicious and perfect to pair with the dried fruits and smoked almonds. You can also buy cheeses, meats or dried fruits for a nice snack. I am definitely going to cut my larger pieces of dried fruits like this in the future when building charcuterie boards. Thanks to Rogelio who was a great host, to Brendan for making my reservation on a busy summer weekend, to Berryessa Gap Vineyards for the elite tasting experience and snack board and to Sacramento CM Alex for the YOLO Passport invite. Make sure to tip your server.
Christopher helped us with our wine tasting and we had a good time as our second stop of our self guided tour. This place had it 's AC on full blast and we were delightfully chilled as we were instructed to sit at a table until we could be helped with our wine tasting. The place was so clean, bright, and decorated with purchasable art. There is two tasting menu 's here, one that includes white wine and a second that is only red. You don 't get to choose, they have a ready made set of 5 wines for you. I loved the bright and crispy white wine that was served first my favorite of the ones samples. Christopher also gave us a little decanter of water for us to share and little stemless glasses for the water. While waiting for another sample, one of my boyfriend 's favorite past times of scaring me playfully ended with me knocking over the little decanter of water onto the table...not intoxicated! Just easily scared! haha. Chris helped me clean it up and said At least it wasn 't the wine! I agree Chris! The chalkboard said there was live music at 6 but that time came and went without a sound. I didn 't ask, Chris was a busy guy at that time but I hope they do have live music. I would love to stop by for a glass of wine and some live jazz and I suggest everyone else who shares those passions to do the same and make the same inquires! Thank you for having us BGW!
