The tasting room is cute and cozy and the service is wonderful, but the wines leave much to be desired. Came here with a few friends while on a short Yolo county wine tasting trip, and our visit to Turkovich Family Wines was our last and final stop. Turkovich has two locations; their winery on Buckeye Road and this adorable tasting room right in the heart of Downtown Winters. We stopped by right before dinner time, and the place was moderately busy. I love the local charm and rustic feel of their tasting room. You can definitely tell that the tasting room is a crowd favorite. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and given a table and tasting menus. One thing that I can say about tasting in Yolo County is that it's extremely reasonable in terms of price. It's also waaay more relaxed and super unpretentious, but also extremely HAWT during the summer time. Their tasting consists of 5 tastes of your choice off of their current tasting menu. They actually have quite a variety of wines to choose from with reds being more prominent. Unfortunately, my friends and I weren't too fond of their wines in general. The only one that I liked out of the 6 that I tried was their Boss Red Blend, and even that didn't really wow me. Could have just been an off year for them or maybe our palates are just too used Napa and Sonoma Valley wines. However, it certainly wasn't our cup of tea. The wines just tasted... young and overly acidic. The atmosphere and service was stellar though, so I'd still come back to give them another try when I'm back in that area again.

Skillfully made wines and a lot of variety! Some of my favorites here are the viognier, grenache, tannat and malbec. Wine tasting here is a great way to learn more about different wine varieties. I had not tried tannat before until trying it here and found it to be smooth and delicious with subtle tannins. After trying tannat wine at other wineries, the one here at Turkovich is by far the most drinkable one I've tried.
