Standard bar food. Craft beer is good, but not great. Pizza looked like it was good but didn't order any.
If I could rate this any lower, I absolutely would. I have came to the Dells over the years, and always try to make a stop at Moosejaw. I will NEVER be back, and will strongly encourage others to do the same. I read that they had gone down hill, it's the TRUTH! One of the worst experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. We got seated in the basement, server took 15 mins to even acknowledge us. She took so long that when we ordered the drinks we went ahead and ordered. Mind you this is 1 in the afternoon on a Sunday, they were NOT super busy. She disappeared, took another 20 mins to get our drinks. Our party ordered breadsticks, pretzel bites, chicken, and mozz sticks, just simple, fast apps. They took almost a full HOUR after we ordered to get us some APPETIZERS! All of us at that table have worked the service industry, some bread and appetizers don't take that long. The waitress the entire time we were waiting for our food just disappeared so we couldn't ask. Finally someone in my group got up and asked one of the servers chatting and goofing around with their coworkers by the bar what was going on and where our server was and how long our food was gonna be. We had tickets to a show, and had gotten apps only thinking it would be quick. Our time limit was running out. Funny how about 5 mins after my friend had asked about our food, magically there was with everything. When we finally got it, it was cold. It had been sitting, and when called out she kept lying. She was so extremely awkward, and unpleasant. We were NOT happy, wanting to speak to a manager and she was more concerned about begging me, literally BEGGING me to allow her to sing happy birthday to me. It was the weirdest, most uncomfortable interaction I've ever had with an server. They slapped the bill down, didn't offer to remake it, didn't offer a discount, didn't call the manager over like we asked. We finally had to repeat ourselves that the food was disgusting, and we were NOT happy that they FINALLY wrote the food off. Still made us pay for the disgusting root beer that we never got even ONE refill from! HORRIFIC.
Arrived around 7:30pm on Sunday evening. Host placed us at a two person table next to the kitchen. I don't know why they put guests at the worst tables when there are nicer options. Asked and was moved to 2nd floor. We ordered pretzel bites (fair) spaghetti and meatballs (good) and black bean burger with home made potato chips (good, took half home).
This place is great. Great pizzas. Great soft drinks. Great beers. (Try a flight/sampler. The cheesecake is wonderful. In fact, the full menu is solid, and the prices are surprisingly fair. And it's decorated like a lodge--log cabin, stone fireplace, antler chandelier, and taxidermy all over. And there is ample space between tables. Add in great service and you'll understand why this is a favorite in town.
