Restaurant Taverne Athen Stavros Barkampas

General location the history of the city xanten began already before approx. 2,000 years when the Romans settled here. xanten is located on the Lower Rhine, just a few kilometers from the Dutch neighbours. the center is very well maintained and culturally interesting. at the corner of the market place in the pedestrian zone is the tavern athen. the tavern extends over 2 days. the toilets are in the upper area. at the bottom of the gas reservoir is tubular. the dark wood furniture are modern with red padded leather benches and chairs. the walls have a yellow friendly touch and simple great art pictures drawing the views. round windows with small plant pots illuminate the narrow space. in the rear area there was no place to hang out so they had to be suspended over the chair supports. the tables were designed with cream-colored paper sets, which was not a mistake, as was shown later, because the plates were left behind traces. was already covered with brown and red paper napkins. I would have wanted more. the tavern was well visited. the publikum colorful mixed. service we were welcomed and allowed to choose a table. the service does not take care of us during our stay necessary. the three service personnel are competently very fast and trained. everyone does everything, there is no special tischein division. eating the menu is very extensive, everything available in Greek delicacies is offered here. as a greeting from the kitchen came 2 ouzos and a dip with two dishes. in one was zaziki in the other tomatized olive oil. there were fresh grilled brot. we then started with an appetizer board (8,00€). a beautiful large owl, white plate was rich with baked aubergines, zuccini slices, sharp tasty zaziki, tamar, 2 oliven and tasty grilled peperonis. there were grilled broths. afterwards we chose a creamy cheese (7,00€ in the often baked with tomato slices, wobble and again grilled white brot. Unfortunately, I'm too oily. then it went to the main court. the Ouzo cellar consisted of 1 suzuki, 1 souvlaki, gyros, 1 blacksteak, ajwar, pommes frites and salat of buffet (15,00€ . the meat was very delicate, although it was fried. the gyros are tender and presumably seasoned. it was not too tasteful where a sharpness came from, but was pleasant. the ajwar was sharp then the opposite. the pommes beautiful large and beautiful soft inside. the salate of the solid could unite. were offered: carrots, leaf salad, peperoni, mais, tomatoes, white spices and 2 different sauces that contained too little salt for me. all freshly prepared. Conclusion: good Greek cuisine, fast attention service. happy again. from my side very recommended.

Central location, super nice staff, delicious, Greek specialities, large portions and absolutely cheap! We like to come back!

Great food. I had lamb fillet with foil potato. Filet was super delicate. My wife had the liver pan. Great sauce and liver was also very good. We can only recommend. The service is also very friendly.

It is certainly not the best Greek I know, but the store is clean (the toilets not) and the staff is friendly. The part (I had the stino shells with rice) was ok, not as usual plentiful. But it tasted. The prices are absolutely fine. For me, this is all in all 4 stars.

Authentic Greek restaurant, with good kitchen and very friendly attentive staff. It has been in Athens four times and has never been disappointed. In my opinion, the best place on the market is not too crowded and fair of value for money.
