The entrees, featuring local ingredients, were of high quality. We ordered the king and potato skins with marron, both of which were excellent. Unfortunately, the main courses were lacking in creativity. The dish containing the bark in black bean sauce was particularly disappointing, and the fish in soy sauce was also underwhelming. This style of cooking, commonly used by some Chinese cuisines, generally focuses on stir-frying, which doesn't necessarily lead to a high-quality meat dish. Overall, the meal fell short of expectations.
We last visited this restaurant 18 months ago, and unfortunately, it seems to have declined since then. While the service is still sharp, the kitchen's execution was inconsistent. A major letdown was the absence of the lamb shoulder, a signature dish that they simply didn't have in stock. It was very disappointing. We also ordered the pork char siu and the lamb rump, both of which were over-seasoned and poorly cooked. The side of potato gems was excessively salty, leaving us in need of water. To add to the disappointment, the cheese we wanted was also out of stock. Desserts arrived quickly, but for $20, we expected more. Overall, it was a disappointing experience.
Excellent, high quality cuisine. We shared 4 entrees and a dessert. All very good. Especially the scallops with pork belly, apple shitake emulsion. The grapefruit jelly with macha/herb sorbet was outstanding! Wonderful meal, paired with a gorgeous 2014 Semillon. A recommended visit for lunch.
My husband and I visited here upon recommendation and we were not disappointed. Amazing location and wonderful wines. We decided to have lunch and ended up going for a 6 dish set menu which was sensational! Stand out dishes, Kingfish done in a ceviche style, home made sour dough bread with truffle butter, prawns, lamb ribs, beef, charred cauliflower with pomegranate and the best dessert I've ever had from a South American fruit I've never heard of. Feijoa! You will not be disappointed!
