Something about the place just feels different now. I did buy some ham, and it was still as tasty as ever. I just think their sandwiches could be significantly improved; they were more bread than meat.
One of my favorite sandwich places in Orange County and trust me, that says a lot. Besides ham, these guys specialize in paninis, and literally nobody makes them better. Most of their sandwiches pair perfectly with their homemade soups. The Bostoner is my sandwich, and I'll take it with her fabulous tomato bisque. Sure, it'll knock a week out of your life, but let's be honest, you don't want to be here for the last week anyway. These guys had another location in South County that was recently closed, and I have no idea how that could happen. Probably a bad leasing, a bad location or just bad marketing. These guys should have 10 locations so far. 100% recommend this place.
The staff here is friendly, and the store appears to be clean. The classic Italian hoagie has a tasty pesto mayo, and the bread is quite decent for the West Coast. However, I found there to be very little meat and cheese, with too much salad and roasted paprika. I might return, but I'm still on the lookout for a substantial hoagie in Orange County—beyond Cortina's.
The original golden baked hampanini is delicious! They also offer seasonal an incredible lobster roll, only on Friday.
This is a small business that I always return to when I'm craving a panini, usually once or twice a year. I love that my panini always tastes the same. I visited again yesterday and noticed they’ve added more outdoor seating. The cashier was very friendly, and when I arrived to pick up my food, it was ready for me. I've been ordering the same thing for the past six years: the Burguinni with tri-tip instead of the usual meat. It’s just perfect!
