I found a hair on my lemon slice, but it was immediately thrown away from the waitress. for the starter my pastete was beautiful. could have done with something nice (except their charitable potatoes) in the most important courses, although they need to order them separately. my confit de canard was well made with a delicious sauce and the dauphinoise kartoffeln creamy and tasty. Eat and service would have slightly weathered to make it for me 5 but I was enough happy with it all and the price point is good so a total of 4 .
This intimate French restaurant for a beautiful first experience in york. we sat and served immediately and took care of all the time. my man and I ordered the two-course set lunch special. our first courses took part in cheese, made in delicious forms: my with soft fresh goat cheese on crustini with salad, while my man had fritot de brie. my head was a pig dog on the maische, in a sea of a cedar-based engraving. the flesh looked out at night, but the bone was stretched, and the amount of meat ended perfectly. it was flying directly from the bone. with this engraving it was incredible. my man had the steak and pommes, all well cooked and delicious.
Went on a sat night, table booked for 19:00 went a bit early, and table was all ready. When we walked in we were greeted with a warm welcome. Sat at our table and started looking through the menu. The waitress took our drinks order. (No draught lager/beer, just bottles). We looked through the menu, and decided to get the £17.95 three course deal. (Bad choice for the wife, as she was stuffed at the end). Food was amazing, service was fantastic. Staff all on hand and very attentive. Food was bursting with flavors. Also the portion size with the deal was very reasonable. If you have a big appetite, just order a few extras for the table. (Chips, green beans, or my favorite. Dauphinoinse potatoes. We will be back, my first 5 stars.
Rustique in Castlegate York has become a firm family favourite but this was our first visit to Rustique Lendal. We rate the Castlegate because of the quality of the French cuisine, excellent service and comfortable location. So how did Lendal compare? The décor and ambience are just as good. The interior is warm and welcoming: very atmospheric, comfortable and relaxing. The service was superb too. We had booked in at Castlegate but Lendal was nearer, so we popped in and asked if we could cancel the Castlegate reservation and place one instead at Lendal. The staff were only too willing to sort it all out on the phone. The service at dinner was friendly and very efficient. We wanted a bottle of sauvignon blanc and the waitress suggested the house wine and alternatives. On her advice we went for the New Zealand bottle at £22.95 which was crisp and refreshing. A good choice. The set menu is always extremely attractive at £16.95 for three courses. There is plenty of choice, the portion sizes are perfect, and the food is always great. It was so again. I like the pate for starters and always make a beeline for the delicious sea bass. My daughter raves at the French onion soup which has melted cheese and croutons in it and the steak and frites for main course. She recommends caramel pancake for dessert but I much prefer the massive dish of crème brule. The bill came in at a very fair £89.55 for the three of us.
We had a wonderful dining experience at this restaurant. The service was exceptional with our waiter being friendly, attentive, offering excellent recommendations, and engaging in good conversation. We have visited before and will definitely return again.
