The Blossom Cafe - York

Breakfast was warm and I ate it. The cooked breakfast is expensive and not good value.The worst cooked breakfast I have had ever (and I am a motorcyclist so I have experience motorcyclists will be nodding their heads!? . Toast thin, white bread not properly browned. Sausage dismal. Tea poor. Large plate filled with poor tasting beans and tomatoes as if to bulk things out(? . I really don’t know how this place got the current three stars for overall reviews, people may have opted for other items on the menu maybe? Egg not properly cooked and hash browns….well hash browns are what they are. I try to go to ‘non chain’ cafes wherever possible but this choice was a mistake (which my partner has been reminding me of all day . Left this place then walked past seemingly dozens of cafes any of which would have been a preferable option.

We looked for a venue for breakfast on our final morning of our weekend in York. We wanted somewhere close to the Lawrance apartments where we were staying as we discovered the previous morning all cafes towards the centre were packed with queues for tables. Blossom cafe was perfect just 5 mins walk and seated the 8 of us. It was very clean and the mini breakfast was perfect to set us up for our journey home, it was also extremely good value. The staff were pleasant and friendly. I would definitely recommend if you want to avoid the crowds it is also convenient for the railway station.

Lots of 1 star reviews I think are unfair. Yes it is a bit pricey but you can get a breakfast including a hot or cold drink for £9 I agree the sausage could probably do with an upgrade but you get plenty of toast and the bacon is good quality as are the beans. For York city centre I think the price is reasonable and we'll definitely be returning when we are next at the races

Very very expensive £4.00 for bacon on toast £2.30 for a cup of tea

The breakfast was, massive sadly the food wasn't cheap beans cheap sausages, there was no taste to anything on the plate, £12 each it was a disappointment we all left most of it and left still hungry
