This restaurant has a quick turnover and is quite popular, and for good reason. They serve delicious homemade salsa, have a friendly staff, and are conveniently located near a truck stop and a busy Chevron station. The place offers beer and margaritas, which I haven't encountered before at similar spots. There are also charming little palapas, or covered tables, outside – a nod to the restaurant’s name. If you're looking for a lovely spot for a sunny afternoon lunch, this is the place to be. I tried the bean and cheese burrito, and it was excellent; the beans were incredibly creamy. The carne asada was also good. If I were to order the fish, I might request it crispy with a bit of extra sauce, along with my choice of flour or corn tortillas. They really know how to do things right here!
The food is quite expensive for what you receive. When I ordered my tacos, they informed me that they didn't have flour tortillas, but then my boyfriend's quesadilla arrived with a flour tortilla. The tacos also contained very little meat.
The food was terrible. I have seen rolled tacos have more meat then the three street tacos had combined. The service was deplorable.. Has a fair sitting area but for $11.99 for three carne Asada St. tacos that had maybe 4, 1/4 pieces of Carne Asada in there no cheese no fillers. I do not recommend this place. I should've known when I walked in, and there was nobody in the place. The place made me feel like a dungeon.
Believe what you read, this place is amazing. Beans are super creamy, tortillas are something very special, and the asada is delightful! Go for the shrimp tacos or the pollo asado.....they are worth the trip!
