Blue Heron - Ardmore

My husband and I flew past Lake Murray last weekend to taste this restaurant and enjoy beautiful scenery! The landscape was not disappointed and the food was delish!!! Prices are also very reasonable. We will definitely be back!!!

The food was good, nothing spectacular, but the outside dining deck was right on the water, and Kaitlyn (our server) made sure we were very well taken care of!

Looks a bit like a cafeteria but the food and service are definitely restaurant quality. The wait-staff were extremely attentive and professional. The chef came out to clarify a request on our order to make sure we were taken care of to the best of their ability. It echoed a bit inside, but the outside seating was quiet, beautiful, relaxing, and extremely enjoyable. I highly recommend this restaurant! My wife and I are excited to go back again and even stay a couple days in the lodges or cabins. 5

The food was very good. The view was beautiful. The wait was very long. We were able to sit down immediately, but waited for over 20 minutes to get our order taken. Then another 30 to 40 minutes to receive our food. Waitress was friendly and apologetic for the wait. She said they were short on staff. The cook/shift manager, came out and apologized for the wait and brought us an appetizer to hold us over until our food arrived. He was very friendly. Most food items ranged from 7 to 11 dollars. There are a couple items that are more. They did offer a buffet as well. Which I would probably get if I returned, just so I could get my food faster. It looked like there was a good selection on it.

During our stay at the lodge, we dined here for the first time and found that there was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, all with a beautiful view of the lake. While the menu items are on the pricier side, that's expected given the location compared to other seafood restaurants. My wife ordered the BLT, which came with only two slices of bacon—definitely needed more bacon—but the sweet potato waffle fries were excellent! I opted for the Reuben with chips, and both choices were good. For dinner, we shared the chicken strips, which had a nice, crispy batter and were very tasty, along with the pommes and green beans, all of which were enjoyable. We also tried the breakfast buffet, which had options for 9 adults and 5 children, including drinks. I would recommend the chicken strips, and overall, we would dine here again.
