COFFEE: 3.5/5 It exceeded my expectations! I probably should have opted for a hot chocolate, but I found their coffee quite enjoyable as well. While waiting for our order, we chatted with an older couple whose scones looked fantastic! We would have loved to return to try some, but as early risers, we found that the café opens at 9:30 or 10 am. DECOR AND AMBIENCE: 3.5/5 It felt like visiting Grandma's for a cup of tea and some baked treats. The cushioned seats by the window were a nice addition and made great use of the space. Although there are only a few tables inside and about the same outside, it still felt cozy and comfortable. KID FRIENDLY: Yes, kids can sit by the window to enjoy their treats, or if you have a pram and prefer outdoor seating, there are some adorable tables outside to enjoy the sunshine.
The woman who served us was quite unfriendly and didn’t smile at all. There was hardly any service; it felt more like a transaction than a dining experience. When I ordered, the interaction was very curt, and she seemed completely uninterested in us. The hot chocolate was just average and nothing special. The place wasn't busy, yet there were dirty dishes left on our table. At one point, another customer had to take them up to the counter himself because he wanted to sit down. I definitely won't be returning!
The food here is decent (I tried the pancakes and scones), but it’s not the main reason to visit. Just a few kilometers outside Launceston, you'll experience a taste of Switzerland in Grindelwald! This village is a must-see, and if you're looking for a place to satisfy your appetite, one of the best options nearby is the Chocolate Cafe!
