Mermaids Island Grill - Holden Beach

The grilled chicken sandwich was amazing, the best we have ever tasted!!!

This small restaurant has a great relaxed atmosphere with a cool vibe.

We are not local to this area and we had a friend reccomended this establishment for lunch. The restaurant was clean, as were the restrooms. There was plenty of seating inside and out which was nice because it was a beautiful day and we sat outside at a picnic table, but there is a nice covered seating area upstairs which was a little too shady for us since it was a little cool the day we were there. The food options were plentiful without being overwhelming. I got the pulled pork sandwich with crispy fries and my friend got the flounder sandwich with coleslaw. The flounder was well cooked with a nice thin breading with shredded lettuce and a tomato slice along with homemade coleslaw which was very good. My pulled pork sandwich was very nice with the same homemade coleslaw. The pork was very tasty and had a nice little heat kick to it which was very pleasant. I am sensitive to spicy foods but this was a nice bit of spice. The crispy fries were delicious, they were exceptionally crispy but maybe a tad bit too salty, but it didn't stop me from munching down every last one!! The portions aren't huge but very satisfying and didn't leave me feeling stuffed and bloated. Overall a great little place. I wouldn't hesitate to come back or reccomended.

Original review was 4 star, second review made it to 5 stars. one main reason for the upgrade was simply because they cared enough to reply to the review. that shows me they really care about their customers.

The atmosphere was great, they had a 2nd floor with a bar. You walk up to order your food, seat yourself, and they’ll bring it to you. We ordered drinks so we went to the 2nd floor for dinner and drinks. The best crab cakes I’ve ever had. Everything was cooked very well. Rice pilaf was on point as well as the salad I had. They’ve got the “good” ranch too. Big fan. My daughter loved her chicken tenders and the fries were good. My husband loved his as well. He said the flounder was cooked just right. An overall great meal. Drinks were good too!
